Internal Operations Platform
An anonymous internal platform connecting day-to-day business workflows with a containerised build, deployment, and operating environment.
The problem
Day-to-day operational workflows needed a dedicated application boundary while specialist monitoring and device-management responsibilities remained in the existing RMM systems.
How the parts work together
The system separates business-domain workflows from the RMM boundary and connects a Vue application, Express APIs, persistence, containerised deployment, and monitoring within a self-hosted environment.
Model
Operational requirements and domain modules
Where I contributed
- 01
Applied a software-development background to internal operational requirements inside an MSP environment.
- 02
Contributed across frontend, API, deployment, and operating concerns rather than treating source code as the end of the product.
- 03
Kept business workflows separate from specialist device-management functions.
Decisions that shaped it
Respect system boundaries
Keep deep monitoring and patch-management responsibilities in the existing RMM layer.
Build through operate
Treat containers, delivery, monitoring, domains, and production troubleshooting as part of the system lifecycle.
Publish abstractions only
Use recreated diagrams and qualitative outcomes so the case study demonstrates thinking without exposing employer or client details.
Result and scope
Selected operational workflows now run through a Vue interface and Express API, with containerised deployment and monitoring included in the operating model. Proprietary modules, customer information, and private infrastructure details remain outside the public case study.
Reference material
Abstract delivery pathway
A deliberately generic model communicates lifecycle and boundaries without mirroring private infrastructure.
Private repository review
The private repository covers the application, API, container, test, and monitoring layers; source is not published.
